SCULPTURE "MINER" - work of the Croatian sculptor Antuna Augustinčić - MUSEUM PIECE

This beautiful "Miner" sculpture is a sketch for the 2 metre high sculpture installed in the park of the International Labour Organisation headquarters in Geneva. It is a modified figure of a bevel that Augustinčić had been making as a part of the "Monument t he Silesian Uprising" sculptural ensemble for Katowice from 1936 to 1939. 

The Antun Augustinčić Gallery has the plaster model on the monument in its permanent exhibition, an it also possesses a sketch in bronze.
